What is an Incontinence Mattress Protector?

• Soft Top Layer: The top surface of the protector is usually made of a soft, comfortable fabric, such as cotton or polyester, providing a cosy sleeping surface while keeping moisture away from the mattress.
• Variety of Styles: Mattress protectors come in multiple different options, fitted, which covers the top and sides like a typical top sheet, without flaps, which only covers the top of the mattress, and protectors which cover the whole mattress (including the bottom) like a sleeve.
• Durability: Incontinence mattress protectors are designed to be durable and withstand regular washing without losing their effectiveness, making them a long-term solution for mattress protection.

What is the Difference Between a Bed Pad and a Mattress Protector?

While both products help manage incontinence and protect bedding, they serve different purposes and function in distinct ways:

Coverage Area:

• Bed Pad: A bed pad is a smaller, portable pad that covers a specific area of the bed, usually where the user lies. It’s designed to absorb moisture directly and is typically placed on top of the sheets.
• Mattress Protector: A mattress protector covers the entire mattress, either just the top or encasing it completely. It offers full mattress protection from spills, stains, and moisture.

Absorbency vs. Waterproofing:

• Bed Pad: Bed pads are highly absorbent and are meant to trap and hold urine, keeping the surface dry. They are ideal for providing immediate, localised protection.
• Mattress Protector: Mattress protectors primarily act as a waterproof barrier rather than absorbing liquid. They prevent any moisture from reaching the mattress, but don’t absorb it themselves.

Purpose and Usage:

• Bed Pad: Bed pads are often used for added protection, particularly when accidents are occasional or when additional absorbency is needed. They can be easily removed and changed without disturbing the entire bed.
• Mattress Protector: A mattress protector is used for long-term, continuous protection of the entire mattress. It stays on the mattress like a fitted sheet and doesn’t need to be changed as frequently as bed pads.

Convenience and Maintenance:
