A catheter strap can be worn on the lower abdomen or leg to support your catheter or leg bag tubing. The position in which you choose to wear your catheter strap will depend on whether you live with a urethral or suprapubic catheter, the length of your catheter and leg bag tubing, your preferred leg bag volume and your level of mobility. Your nurse or doctor will be able to offer you guidance on your options and recommend a position that is right for you.
Using a measuring tape, measure around the area you intend to fit your catheter strap (your abdomen or your leg) and select the size that fits. Most catheter straps are available in a range of lengths, and to achieve the perfect fit each strap can be trimmed down to size.
